Lower School
The THA Lower School couples personalized attention with a captivating classroom experience to nurture a lifelong love of learning in children Kindergarten through 5th Grade.
We provide numerous opportunities for students to develop their personal traits, academic knowledge, and a connection to Judaism. This creation of a well-rounded student drives engagement in our THA community.
Exemplary Academics
THA classrooms are charged with a spirit of discovery: students are offered hands-on, interactive learning in the core subjects balanced with the opportunity to explore passions through various co-curricular and after-school programming. Classroom curriculum aligns with the academic standards set by the Arizona Department of Education and Next Generation Science Standards.
Joyful Judaism
Jewish values are woven into the fabric of THA, encouraging students to deeply connect with, and celebrate, Judaism through academic and personal growth. Through learning Hebrew and participating in Jewish traditions, students are encouraged to embrace Jewish life in the ways most meaningful, and joyous, to them.
Real World Learning
Our hands-on approach to learning includes off-campus excursions to create real-world connections and higher engagement with classroom content. On these trips, children experience classroom materials, both academic and Jewish, in tangible ways, such as the cross-curricular second grade class trip to Biosphere 2.
Dual Language Learning
In the United States, one in five K-12 students is enrolled in a world language class. Research indicates that learning a second language enhances a child's cognitive abilities in all areas of academic study and critical thinking while fostering a global perspective.
At THA, students in all grades actively participate in learning Hebrew. In the Lower School, students build vocabulary, reading, and writing skills, along with conversational abilities.
Supporting Your Family's Schedule
Tucson Hebrew Academy offers Before-Care (starting at 7am) and After-Care (until 4:45pm) at no additional charge to school families.
Nurturing Minds and Bodies
Tucson Hebrew Academy’s kosher kitchen provides fresh, daily-made lunch options and a nutritious salad bar for students in all grades.
Physical Education in Partnership with the Tucson J
Physical Education (PE) programming is enhanced by our partnership with the Tucson J. Along with access to state-of-the-art fitness facilities, THA Lions have access to basketball courts, tennis/pickleball courts, and a community pool.
Why choose a Jewish day school?
As Tucson’s only Jewish day school, THA may better align with your family’s desire for enhanced academic performance and a strong sense of community for your child.
Attending a private school allows your child to have a more tailored educational experience. At THA, they can easily foster a sense of belonging in our tight-knit community and receive individualized attention in small classes.
